I started this project because I have a big fascination about time and how we human beings deal with it. There are two types of time: clock time and perception of time. Nobody can fully live to the clock time or the other way around. My opinion is that you have to find a balance between those two. The material you see is an experiment about my research how to visualize those two types of time.

When you are a child you live in a bubble where time cannot reach you. When you grow older this bubble is getting thinner until eventually you are an adult and do not live in a bubble anymore. However, at some points in life you experience your bubble again in moments of euphoria.
Besides that wind stands for the time; time lasts (tijd duurt). The bubbles shown below dance through the wind in time. Every one of them is distinct and experience their own sense of time: often time flies but sometimes it crawls. Through imagery I try to visualize these concepts. |
Below a film is shown with a dancer who combines the two types of time. She dances both like a modern- and sometimes like a classical ballet dancer. These movements represent perception of time and clock time. By utilizing a particular device you can control the speed of the film. Through bodily movements you decide if the movie is playing delayed or at high speed. This way you can experience control and perception of time.
